Introduction

The rapid integration of AI technologies in the education and hospitality sectors presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly in the realms of language and cross-cultural communication. AI-powered tools, such as chatbots, virtual assistants, and translation software, are becoming essential for facilitating communication and enhancing experiences for both customers and learners. However, effectively navigating language barriers and cultural nuances remains a significant challenge. AI systems often struggle to understand context, cultural norms, idiomatic expressions, and non-verbal cues, which can lead to misunderstandings and misinterpretations. As these industries continue to globalize, there is a pressing need for adaptive AI systems that incorporate cultural intelligence and multilingual capabilities to ensure effective and inclusive communication.

In response to these challenges, the Faculty of Hospitality Industry at Kasetsart University, in collaboration with the Association of Language Teachers in Southeast Asia, is organizing the 10th International Conference on Language and Education. Under the theme “Navigating Language & Cross-cultural Communication Challenges in the AI-Powered Education and Hospitality Industry,” the conference will serve as a dynamic platform for intellectual exchange. It aims to bring together faculty members, administrators, policymakers, researchers, and students to share insights, experiences, and strategies related to these critical issues. The conference seeks to strengthen communication and collaboration across different layers of educational settings, fostering a deeper understanding of how AI can be leveraged to overcome language and cultural barriers in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
